Drame des sentiments et drame des molécules dans Tre risvegli de Patrizia Cavalli
Résumé
Tre Risvegli (Three awakenings), the only opera libretto written by Patrizia Cavalli, was published in a poetry collection titled Datura (2013). In this dramatic poem, the composition gives shape to the image of theatre and its temporal suspension, which is a source of great inspiration for Cavalli’s poetry. This study analyses the mise en scene of an enquiry about the inner workings of love. As in a sort of visionary ‘scientific theatre’, the enquiry observes the protagonist, split between body and psyche, troubled by hormonal changes and by an imaginary love that gives shape and meaning to the mechanical manifestations of her body. While the woman’s psyche creates the ghost of love, Cavalli’s poetry gives order and the measure to the woman’s suffering and to her imaginary sentimental wonderings.
